Simon Mead-Head Coach and Video Analyst

Simon has vast experience and knowledge of the football having worked extensively at all levels of the game both here in NZ and abroad.

Simon attended the University of Otago where he studied sport science- sport coaching. During his time at Otago, Simon was selected as an student exchange to the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, where he studied sports coaching and athletic training and conditioning.

Simon has specialised in Futsal, coaching Vikings Austraila U16 boys Futsal team on a 4 week Brazil tour. At the conclusion of the tour, Simon was invited to stay on in Brazil and under took a 3 month coaching internship and professional Futsal Club Minas and then onto Cruzeiro Football Club.  Simon coached both the WaiBOP U19’s and Senior Men’s teams in there respective national leagues and was invited to coach the NZ Futsal Whites invitational team at the 2013 Oceania Champs.

Simon was formerly, the Waikato Football Development Officer for Waikato bay of Plenty Football, where he was in charge coach education and player development for the region.

Simon also spent 3 seasons as coach of the WaiBOP Woman’s side in the ASB woman’s national league.

Recently Simon left his successful tenure at WaiBOP football as a development officer to complete a Masters in Coaching through AUT University and is currently an assistant lecturer for the sport and recreation department at AUT.

Simon maintains his busy schedule whilst coaching for WUFA. “I have a huge passion for coaching and I’m delighted to be working with an excited group players that we have here at WUFA.”
